A workshop covering some of the basics in technical problem solving at a venue like the Blue Room or other independent settings. Suitable for Stage Managers/ Operators who have a rudimentary knowledge of lighting and sound, and want to feel more confident in navigating technical problems.

Facilitator: Rhiannon Petersen

Rhi is a performance maker, visual designer, and lighting technician based in Boorloo (Perth), who makes fun, weird, genre bending art. They are also the Production and Venue Manager at The Blue Room Theatre. Rhi completed a BA in Performance Studies in 2015 (Curtin University). Rhi’s previous works include Shrimp Hotel (Online, 2025) The Jellyman (TBRT, 2020), Survive the Apocalypse!! (TBRT Online, 2020), The Big Dark (TBRT, 2018), and Shout Lab (Crack Theatre Festival, 2016). Previous lighting designs include Squared Off (Offbase Dance, 2024, Fridays Studio), Homeward Bound (Lazy Yarns, 2022, TBRT), Little Women (Mel and Sal, 2021, TBRT),  and Bite the Hand (The Last Great Hunt, 2021, Subiaco Arts Centre); and previous scenography includes Las Hormigas (Pilar Mata Dupont, 2022, PICA), and See You Next Tuesday (Static Drive Co., 2022, Subiaco Arts Centre Studio). Rhi’s work has been described as 'exciting, pertinent and ambitious theatre’ (Seesaw Mag, 2020).
